About the Author

Melissa Fleming is an artist, writer, and public speaker whose work explores the connections between art, science, and the natural world.

Inspired by the beauty of nature, fascinated by weather, and curious about the science behind it, she created The Weather Gamut in 2011. Through her work on this site, she seeks to foster a deeper appreciation of nature and a greater understanding of our changing environment.

Bridging art and science, Melissa has presented at universities, museums, and national and international conferences on the role of art in environmental communication.

She holds a Master of Fine Arts from Parsons School of Design, a Master Naturalist Certificate from Cornell University, and is an Associate Member of the American Meteorological Society. She lives and works in New York City.
